The very strong Snowy Mountains Zone is approaching its 40th birthday in 2015, so it is timely to gather momentum by sponsoring the Quilty Anniversary ride in which many of its members have excelled - Ross Webb and Stoney won the Quilty in 1971. Stoney, ridden by Ross’s son Warren, won it again in 1972. Jenny Oliver and Glenallan Solomon (Salty) won three in a row in 1985, 1986 and 1987. 1975 saw the formation of a regional body named the Snowy Mountains Endurance Association and it has gone from strength to strength. Today there are 9 Snowy rides on the Calendar with other ‘training’ weekends to encourage and foster new memberships.
